LITERACY LIFELINES: Connections for Instructional Support

Young Poet's Word of the Month Poems - Encourage students from grades 3-12 to join the challenge of writing a poem inspired by a single word. Each month a new word is posted. The challenge is to  think about the word until it inspires a poem. Poems can be long or short, funny or serious. It doesn't matter. The idea is to encourage young writers to have fun and try their luck.  A teacher can select up to three student poems and post them on a blog where a lot of others can see them. For more information go to http://davidlharrison.wordpress.com, you'll find the spot above the posting that says Young Poet's Word of the Month Poems. Click on that and see the guidelines and the place where you can post your classes poems.
